You may have noticed a slight delay in posting, which, of course, means we have news to report. It all started Monday afternoon, at about 5:30 PM. I was working on a crossword puzzle and noticed some strong pains in my back and abdomen. I had had so many false alarms, however, that I decided to see if they lasted into the night and kept me awake. So, we went about our business, visiting the golf course for a snack and making dinner that evening.

The contractions continued. We went to bed, trying to see whether I could sleep through them. I couldn't, and called the labor and deliver advice line at about 11 PM. They make a couple suggestions, so we followed those, and at 12:30 AM, departed for the hospital. Labor wasn't too bad, although I really wanted to sleep (since it was the middle of the night) and Rudy was determined to sleep in between the contractions.

Around 2:30 AM, the doctor decided to break the bag of waters, which would get labor moving along a little faster. Before I knew it, they were telling me to wait to push and then they were waiting for the baby's arrival. It was a good team of doctors, and EKW arrived at 4:45 AM on April 19, 2005. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

We stayed at the hospital overnight, but were anxious to get home to our house and things. So far, little Elizabeth has been quite social.

On Thursday, she met her grandparents and Auntie at the golf course for lunch.

On Friday, she went to visit with family gathered for her great grandmother's 90th birthday.

On Sunday, she celebrated great grandmother's 90th birthday at the Carnelian Room (and decided to spit up during the very fancy meal). And that was enough.

We've been home bound ever since, with the exception of short trips to the store and doctor.
